Encryption is the process of encoding a message or information in another form or code such a way that only authorized parties can access it using a decryption code. Encryption does not itself prevent interference, but denies the intelligible content to a would-be interceptor.
Encrypted data is commonly referred to as ciphertext, while unencrypted data is called plaintext. Currently, encryption is one of the most popular and effective data security methods used by organizations. Two main types of data encryption exist – asymmetric encryption, also known as public-key encryption, and symmetric encryption.
