$70 Million Ransomware Hack at Kayesa

What happened?  

  • Kayesa a manufacturer of software used to proactively resolve IT incidents was hacked causng damage to several companies. The hack was carried out allegedly by a cyberattack group called REvil. The hack has isolated numerous computers estimated to be in the millions incapable of use until the $70 million dollar ransom is paid. According to several news publications REvil will free the computers once the ransom is paid.

Who is Kayesa?

  • Kayesa a manufacturer of software used to proactively resolve IT incidents and automate common IT processes, including software deployment, patch management, antivirus and antimalware (AV/AM) deployment, and routine maintenance. This software is used by many large corporations worldwide either through a manage service provider or partner to mange their customers.

Who or what is the REvil? REvil aka Ransomware Evil; also known as Sodinokibi  is a Cybergang operation thought to operate from out of Russia that has been responsbile for several high stakes cyberattacks.
