The T-Mobile hacker notorious John Binns, a 21-year-old American who lives in Turkey, told The Wall Street Journal that he is responsible for the attack.
Binns reportedly broke through T-mobiles defense by using a readily available tool to find an exposed router, and took a week to sort through over 50 million customer data stored in a data center near East Wenatchee, Washington. T-Mobile has declined to comment.
Stolen data includes customer names, dates of birth, SSNs, ID cards, and licenses. Binns told the WSJ that one of his goals behind the attack was to “generate noise,” saying that he hopes someone in the FBI will leak information related to his alleged kidnapping.
Hopefully however the information was breached that T-Mobile is taking measures to prevent this attack from happening again.
